BRAD NICOL ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Check out some recent work

Back in September my wife and I took a trip with a group of friends to Mexico. We stayed at a wellness retreat called Palmaïa, House of Aïa in Playa Del Carmen. The property was exceptional. There were buildings for sound meditation and yoga, a gym with floor to ceiling windows situated in the forest, pools situated between the forests and the ocean and small gathering areas for yoga and art classes. The balance between the natural surroundings and the built environment was fantastic. I was able to spend a short amount of time taking photos in one of the buildings. Click the button below to see more hospitality interior images from Palmaïa.

Lets work together!

One of the first questions we like to ask our client is, what is the end goal/use of the images? Will the images be used to showcase in your firm's portfolio, a proposal, social media, or all of the above? Having this information helps us determine the correct licensing and usage as well as gives us an idea on how we should be photographing the space. Having these important conversations helps drive the photography of your project. Photography for publication in a magazine versus an award submission or proposal can mean different things and we want to make sure that we are capturing the interiors, exteriors and details that you need. You may have an initial idea of a proposal layout that you want to fill in with interior and exterior design images or you may know that you need a certain number of strong, vertical interior shots. Whatever it is, we want to provide the best interior and exterior angles and knowing your end goal helps with that. There are a lot of different uses for architectural photography and we are always excited to learn about your project and the end goal of the images.

Post Production, where the magic happens

Frank Lloyd Wright

"A doctor can bury his mistakes, but an architect can only advise his clients to plant vines."

Images are initially created within the camera but get meticulous attention during post production. We pride ourselves on our ability to capture, clean, and enhance architectural interior and exterior images through our editing process. We utilize programs like CaptureOne Pro and Adobe Photoshop to enhance images and remove unwanted items or debris. Clients always provide the final verdicts on images before delivery.

Stay in Budget

There are very few instances when a project is completed with only one firm involved. It is such a collaborative process that involves many companies over a long period of time to get to the end result. Architects, interior design firms, general contractors, engineers, property owners and representatives, furniture companies, the list goes on and on. With cost-sharing, we make it so that the firms that want to license images can be part of the photography process, adding input into what areas they would like to have highlighted or details that are important to their firm. With cost share, everyone shares the cost of the photography project, which ultimately maximized the marketing budgets for everyone. Our clients include architecture firms, interior designers, engineering companies, building owners and owner representatives, hospitality firms, marketing firms, landscape architects, and many others. We will work with everyone involved on the project to make sure their needs are met. Whether they want specific images of the exterior or detailed images of a mechanical room in the building, we will make sure everyone has a say in the photography. It is a great way to get multiple parties involved while keeping the individual cost lower for each party. The more parties involved the lower the cost is per party.

How I got here.

With over a decade of architectural photography experience, I have been perfecting this craft since 2008. After earning a BA in Commercial Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography, I took the plunge and  started this photography business. Initially working with small architecture firms and designers, the business has grown to include clientele of some of the nations top architecture firms and general contractors. Along with my wife Angelina (yes, Brangelina), we moved to Colorado in 2011. Rounding out our household are three labs, Bella, Kaia, and Finn. With a strong clientele in Denver, Colorado, we also travel through the Rocky Mountain Regions and Texas, photographing projects ranging from hospitals and schools to multifamily properties and corporate buildings.
